Hello, my friends.
Yesterday I did an inplace upgrade from Windows 11 23H2 to Windows 11 24H2 (downloaded ISO from Microsoft, mounted ISO, ran setup.exe, rebooted, done ;-) )
Apart from one or two little things, everything worked “out of the box” under 24H2. But after a short time, I realized that my case fan was always running at the same speed (around 1400 revolutions).
First of all, I updated the AMD chipset drivers and installed the AMD Adrenaline software in version 24.9.1.
After restarting, I realized that this did not bring any improvement.
Even with a CPU temperature of just under 30° Celsius, the system fan was still spinning at a constant 1400 RPM.
In idle mode, the temperature of the CPU is between 29° and 40° Celsius. Under load - for example when exporting images out of Adobe Lightroom - the temperature can reach up to 80° Celsius. At these high temperatures, the fan also spins much higher (>2200 RPM).
The problem is that the SER8 is never really quiet in idle mode and the fan is constantly audible.
What have I tried to solve the problem?
- I loaded the default values in the BIOS and only assigned 8 gigabytes instead of 4 gigabytes to the graphics card.
- The CPU fan settings in the BIOS are as follows:
Fan Mode = Automatic Mode
Limit of Off = 30
Limit of On = 35
SMF Start PWM = 80
Full PWM = 88
SMF Slope PWM = 1
- My BIOS is updated to version 29
- All cumulative updates have been installed via Windows Update
- Windows energy saving plan is set to “Balanced”
Since nothing worked, I installed the FanControl tool as a workaround. With this tool, I also managed to get the fan to a tolerable speed in the temperature range between 28° and 45° Celsius. However, I would like this to work again without additional software.
Question for BeeLink support:
- Is this a driver problem?
- Is the BeeLink SER8 not 100% compatible with Windows 11 24H2?
- is AMD possibly responsible for this (chipset driver)?
I would be very happy to receive an answer.
P.S: I am always available for further questions.
