Hi all, just bought a Beelink SER5 PRO MINI PC, AMD Ryzen7 5700U 8 Cores 1TB SSD 32gb RAM for £309.00 on Amazon - what a bargain. I bought it to replace an ageing noisy Intel NUC. What a difference it's totally quiet, never gets hot ( I do a lot of work with prime numbers on it ) it just gets on with everything I throw at it. I removed the Windows 11 install and installed Debian Bookworm. My question is , has anyone here built a custom Linux kernel for one of these babies ? If this sort of qustion doesn't belong here please let me know. TIA.

Hello!
It's great to hear that you're enjoying your new Beelink SER5 PRO MINI PC. As for building a custom Linux kernel for this device, it's a fairly advanced task that requires a good understanding of Linux kernel development and the specific hardware of the mini PC.
Some experienced Linux users and developers might have attempted to build a custom kernel for similar devices. However, it's not a common practice for the average user.
If you're considering building a custom kernel, make sure you have a good backup of your data and be prepared for potential issues and a significant amount of time spent on research and troubleshooting.

HI there, thanks for your reply. I build complete images for my smaller SBCs which run Armbian so I'm hoping a kernel build won't be too bad. While I have your ear, when creating a new thread on here, does the button Save Draft mean Post Thread - its not very clear

Hello there,

Ser5 MAX 5800 can`t support egpu. So you can`t use the PCI express.

Have a nice day!
