So the antennas are just two wires in a metal housing that shields the signal?

Hello, please unscrew the fouth screws of the bottom cover, then unscrew the screws of the black plastic bracket and take out the plastic braket, then you will see the wifi card and antenna.

Do you mean the wifi speed is slow? could you please send us corresponding picture?
You can try these potential solutions:
1.Please make sure your WIFI signal is full.
2.Make sure that the distance between the PC and the router is less than 6 meters.
3.Please update the wifi driver: https://mega.nz/file/Cwlj3b7R#LD ... fKlA-iAqBAImMgZ3H3Q
4.Please right click the windows ---setting -troubleshooting ---other toubleshooters--- internet---run , let the PC diagnose the problem and solve it automatically.
5.Go to device manager , click the property of the Intel WiFi driver ---advanced--choose property 802 ax, value also choose 802 ax.

I have just seen that the antenna is up.
Isn't the housing made of metal?

It is therefore located under the top cover of the metal-coated plastic housing.
