SER7 no sound on LINUX (any distributive)
When installing any Linux distribution, there is a problem with no sound. The problem is realtek ALC897, any attempts to install utilities and addons for sound control did not bring results

@rxtx, the problem you're facing can be fixed by using an amplifier, as I told you before. There's no other solution. It's super cheap, you plug into your USB port and then plug the hedphone in this USB amplifier.

SER7 line out has low voltage and that's a design/hardware flaw you won't fix with any software.

Not sure what you mean by 'doesn't help'.

You need to be more specific about your issue.

What you want exactly? And what's happening exactly? The more information, the better.

Hello there,

Sorry for the trouble. Don't worry, the PC has one-year warranty.

Could you please send us a picture of SN on the bottom of the PC and a picture of purchase record ? Let's do some troubleshooting. Here are some potential solutions:

1.Please right click window--click “”setting“---Sound----more sound setting --click "playback"--right click speaker---properties--controller information ---properties---update the driver. You also need to check if the speakers is disabled or not in the  playback setting.

2. Here is alternative to troubleshoot the audio problem. https://thegeekpage.com/fix-this ... e%20cannot%20start.,driver%20installed%20on%20your%20computer.

3. pls update the driver: you could go to linux official system to get it. website:kernel.org

4. Please turn off the PC , unplug the power supply, and press the CMOS button (poke the hole of CMOS with a pin) for about 10 seconds , restart the PC after ten minutes.

Have you tried MX Linux AHS version? Then with the "MX Package Installer" install the latest kernel.

Your problem looks like this one  https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2487285
SER5 5600H 32/500 - MX Linux

yes, I installed mx linux, but the maximum you can get is very weak sound at 150% amplification.
This sound problem will not go away as long as the manufacturer installs the alc897

Sound works just fine on Linux. Things you have to consider:

- Kernel (old ones won't work)
- The P2 output has to be connected otherwise the soundcard won't be available
- If you're using headphones you will need an amplifier (look for p2 headphone amp on AliExpress or Amazon)

I do not use old kernels, all Linux distributions of 2023-24 have new kernels (6).
Why talk about the amplifier? I use the linear audio output to connect wired speakers, which works great in Windows, which means that this linear output is working, but the implementation is not optimized for Linux.

@rxtx, the kernel version would be useful only if the sound card was not being detected. In your case it seems it's being detected, so the kernel is not an issue.

If you plug table speakers with an internal amplifier (most of them have and you see a physical volume knob), then SER7 sound output won't be a problem.

However, if you plug headphones, most likely you'll need an amplifier because the sound output voltage of SER7 is ridiculously low. Those portable headphone amplifiers are super tiny and cheap (5 usd or so), and for that reason I believe it's worth it.

I have both Windows and Linux and the difference in volume is zero, literally zero. So what you say about the implementation on Linux not being good is nonsense.

can't post links here, but the sound problem in Linux on beelink devices is quite common, it's worth searching on Google
