Hi to All,
The mystery of this problem has been solved, for now. Have you heard the expression if it is not broken, do not fix it. Well, I did not get the memo and had installed the Intel I/O drivers that were provided with the driver download for this computer. After uninstalling those drivers, the S12 Mini computer started to work correctly. It could have been something else, but I cannot think of anything else I might have done, or it could have been.
After the Intel drivers were uninstalled, the 2-bay docking station, with one drive installed, and in the external M.2 drive enclosure unit were plugged directly into the S12's USB plugs. Then the computer was restarted and the hard/M.2 drives along with everything else on the computer worked correctly.
The powered 3.2 Gen2 hub I purchased from Amazon is another matter. That hub was plugged into the computer with the two-bay docking station, having a single drive installed, plugged into the docking station. Then the computer was rebooted. This time I noticed a USB symbol popped up on the hidden icon panel. It indicated an unrecognized device was found. Device manager showed an unrecognized device under the Universal Bus Controller Section. The entire device manager’s display was also flashing off and on. I think it was in a loop trying to install the driver for the hub.
The hard drive that was installed in the docking station showed up in Windows Explorer, however, the Crystal Disk test for this drive failed in the manner described in the previous post. But now I have a better idea of where to go.
I will be contacting the maker of the hub for assistance in getting it to work with the S12 Mini Computer. I will be back for better or worse with what I find out about the hub. At that time the make and model number of the hub will be provided.
