Hello,

I'm considering buying this miniPC, but I need to know the current state of linux compatibility... preferably with the latest Ubuntu release, but it can be any other linux distro if Ubuntu is no go.
Specifically, I don't need any graphic card or audio drivers to work, and I'm happy if I can just boot it up into ASCII console and have the system run stable. Is it doable? Please let me know.

Hello Albert,

The item support Linux.
But currently , Ubuntu and AMD doesn't offer related drivers at the moment,
so if you run Linux, it won't be stable.
You can wait for the best.

Support-03, which specific drivers are you talking about?
Since you mentioned stability, can you elaborate on it more? What is the exact issue(s)?

Right now latest Ubuntu reboots unexpectedly after around 10 minutes, not sure what is the problem because everything seems to work fine. Hope it gets fixed soon

nnombela, thanks! Which ubuntu release and the linux kernel is it?
Did you try the latest mainline kernel on ubuntu?
The latest mainline kernel for ubuntu is 6.4-rc6 as of today (unfortunatly this forum doesn't allow to post external URL without moderation rights).
Thanks,

You could try with the zen kernel stable release 6.3.8 (today) or higher and a other distribution base. The hardware drivers for the CPU etc. are already supported in the kernel. Mainline RC's are always unstable.

I also ordered the GTR7 PRO and before the GTR6 at release and it runs fine on Arch (based distro)  Linux. Ubuntu has a lot of things going on from a hardware support perspective and isn't the first to support new hardware. The whole standard secure boot nonsens and whatever boot loader they use, maybe causes issues resulting in kernel panics. Grub boots up fine and has less "interference" from such issues if they are hardware related.

But define stable like server 24/7 stable ? Or more home every day use stable ?

Well, I got my GTR7 today and I'm happy to report that xbuntu 23.04 seems to be somewhat stable (doesn't reboot on its own) even with the default kernel. I'm trying multiple 6.3.x. and 6.4 prerelease kernels and it seems running stable so far. By stable I mean that it didn't't reboot under moderate load for a few hours I had it.
I'm running it off a separate nVME drive if it makes any difference.
