how do I change the serial number in the BIOS?

Team,

What tool do I need to change the serial number in the BIOS from "Default String" to an actual serial number? Why do these computers come with a BIOS serial number of "Default String"? The real serial number is on the sticker on the outside of the box. However, the BIOS serial number says "Default String".

These computers will not work with AzureAD/Intune as they require a real serial number in the BIOS.

Please help me change the serial number from "Default String" to an actual serial number.

Thanks. I’m going to be buying a lot of these. I need them to have unique serial numbers in the bios so they will work with Microsoft Intune.

Thanks for that. However, it is not working. I have the tools you sent but it errors telling me the DMI data write failed.

it says Failed to Initialize SMBIOS

Is this the correct tool? Is the BIOS locked? How do I unlock the BIOS so I can input the serial number?

Can you send me a BIOS that's unlocked so I can edit the serial number? Or can you send me a BIOS that has my serial number programmed into it already, please?

This is the error I receive. SMBIOS failed to initialize and DMI data write failed.

amidewinx64.exe VERSION 2.00 will read the bios but will not write it. Says failed to initiate SMBIOS.

I've also tried version 1.3~ and 5.0~ these do not work. I believe I need version 3 etc.

UPDATE: I was able to edit the serial number by using amidewinx64.exe VERSION 5.27 which I finally found on a Russian website believe it or not.

I am in business now :-)

Please update your guide/zip file to use version 5.27 to edit the serial number of Alder Lake 107 BIOS. 1235u processor SEI 12 model.
