Hi

I own a GTR5 withRyzen 9 and as OS is Batocera (based on Arch Linux) installed. It works quite well except that during boot up and the first 1-2 Minutes the Fan is running full speed and is because of it very noisy. Strange is that as soon you put some load on the machine the fan runs on a normal speed and is acceptable loud. Just if the computer is idling the fan runs full speed again.

Is there a solutionfor that?

An additional minorissue. The "AMD Lets start" logo on top is always lit. Isthere a way to switch it off?

Thanks in advance.

Hello there,

Sorry for the trouble.
When did you buy this item ?
Let's do some troubleshooting.
1. Please take out the fan and remove the dust around it.
2. If you bought it long time ago, you might need to update the BIOS.
3. The logo cannot be switched off on top  of the PC.

Hi
Thank you for the quick response.

I have purchased the GTR5 just a view days ago, so I do not think there is any dust in the Fans. I hope. I will have a look anyway.

I checked the support Website and could all kind of programs, just no BIOS updates. Is there another place where to check?

The logo is a nice gimmick, but It might be nice to be able to switch it off if you fed up with it.   Maybe a future BIOS update?

[UPDATE]

After tinkering around I figured out that the GTR5 was shipped in performance mode. I switch it in the bios to AUTO and the noise issue when the computer is idling is acceptable.

Additional I unplugged the LED light from the board. Not as easy as turn a switch within the bios but was manageable.

I'm running a GTR5 on Manjaro and updated the bios to  recently. Seems like it's a lot more silent n ...

Thank you,
How did you run that update under Manjaro? This package looks to me very Windows specific.

[EDIT]

I used a windows on a USB drive and it worked quite well.

Fans are way more quiet than before. Quite nice now.
