Hi,

I was pulling my hair out trying to work out why my the Ookla speedtest.net app on my GT King was capped at a tiny 5Mbits/s. I changed the ethernet cable and still no luck. Then, I tested another spare ($10!) Android box and no issue! The correct speed for my connection was shown (70Mbits/s).

Bee-link, why would Ethernet connections not show their true speed on the speedtest.net app? This is an easy to reproduce issue.

I am also now worried that my GT King is not giving me the correct speeds.
I have all firmware OTA updates, the last was 5th August.

Does this issue start after the OTA update? Or is it always the case, if the results of testing on other test software are the same?

The latest OTA update did not cause the issue since it was showing the wrong internet speed previously (but I can't tell you how far back it went).

What other software can I use to test? My ISP tells me to use Ookla Speed Test app on Android. My PC says the correct number (ethernet), as do my iPads (over wifi). My connection to the GT king is via Ethernet btw and I have a static IP address also.

The issue is this - another (dirt cheap) Android box shows the correct value when using Ookla speed test. Why? The values are clearly wrong.

Hi, the issue has resolved itself. Speedtest now shows correct speeds. Don't ask me why one device was ok and this was not, but it has resolved itself. Thank you - I will test and update in a week.
