I have a GT1 "classic" -- i.e.
  • 2G DDR3 ram  //  eMMC Flash 16G rom
  • CPU: Amlogic S912 Octa Core / ARM Coretex-A53
  • GPU: ARM Mali-T820MP3
  • SN: G912BKL...

After removing this from my Mom's house almost a year ago (she bought a smart TV with Roku) I have finally installed it on an older spare TV here.  I am trying to update with a more current firmware.  The firmware seems to be what the unit originally came with:
  • Android 6.0.1
  • Android Security Patch Level: August 1, 2016
  • Kernel Version: 3.14.29 ihh@ubuntu  #1  Monday Feb. 13, 2007
  • Build No: GT1_110M0

OTA update does not show available upgrades.  Meanwhile, on this forum I found what seems to be "appropriate" firmware in the post: http://www.bee-link.com/forum.ph ... 7&fromuid=55652

I have tried flashing with the "SD Cable Firmware" file listed in the post using a 64GB MicroSD card.  The MicroSD card is correctly recognized by the unit when running the original firmware and shows the relevant files.

However, rebooting while pressing the reset switch and the MicroSD card inserted results in the GT1 logo being shown indefinitely (no update takes place).  I have allowed up to 9 hours (i.e. overnight) to see whether it was just acting slowly for some reason.

Removing the SD card and rebooting the unit returns it to operation under Android 6.0.1.

Advice, please!  I really want to like this unit . . .

You can upgrade the firmware according to the tutorial in the picture. If you need to upgrade a large version, you cannot upgrade through the incremental package. You can only upgrade directly through the USB burning firmware.

FBachofner, you wrote:

If I'm right, the SD should be max 32GB. Maybe that's why it doesn't work. The image file is only 1GB.

Did you try the update with the USB cable?

Maybe this update works bether:
