Are you sure the two blue USB front ports are USB3?
I have run crystal disk mark with a western Digital 4TB external drive which should hit over 100MBytes/s

However I get only 35MBytes/s which is consistent with USB2 speeds

hi

USB3.0 theoretically achieves a transmission speed that is affected by many factors, and the actual speed is not up to the theoretical transmission rate.
Please confirm that your external hard drive supports USB3.0, try to test the speed of your external hard drive on usb3.0 on other computers.

best regards

This is crap. I have the same speed 35-40MB/s on my external SSD connected to any of the alleged "USB 3". These are internally connected to USB 2 interfaces. Another lie concerning the S2 after the ram speed @2100 but advertised as 2400.

Can anyone confirm if the usb 3.0 ports do work at intended speed? I am waiting for a N5000 Beelink SII but if they do not work I will have to return it.
Regards

@Seta666 You will have to test it for yourself with CrystalDiskMark. Even after the Windows re-install, the performances are still USB2 (35-40Mb/s) on my unit. It may be a problem in the Bios but it is fully locked and they refuse to gave us a downloadable version so we can tweak it ourselves. It looks like they used the same Bios for N4100 and N5000 and it is causing the N5000 version a lot of problems (mem not in dual channel mode, CPU turbo mode not up to 2.7Ghz, GPU 605 same speed settings as a 600, ...). I regret buying the N5000 because it works at the same lvl as the N4100 version but I paid a lot more (235E vs 190E).

Have you tried all the 6 USB ports? could they have the wrong label? I will return mine if this is so, I will loose the shipping money though. What about the type C port? have you tried it? Even not ideal if it does work at full speed may be enough for me as there are inexpensive (2€) type c to USB 3 adapters around

I also noticed strange behaviour with the from blue USB ports. On plugging in an external USB3 drive, I noticed that the led indicator light was 'white' (signifying USB2 connection) rather than 'blue' (signifying USB3 connection). On running a backup, this drive was running at around 30MB/s USB2 speeds. On rebooting the computer (without unplugging the drive) I noticed that the led changed from 'white' to 'blue'. On running a backup the drive was running at around 100MB/s USB3 speeds.

I have several USB3 disk drives and all of them now connect as USB3 whenever I plug them in to either of the front USB3 ports. The only thing that had changed was installing "December 11, 2018—KB4471332 (OS Build 17763.194)" for Windows 10 1809.

Make of this what you will. I experienced this problem, described by others, but it now appears to have 'fixed' itself after installing the latest 1809 cumulative update.

I hope this helps others.
