I have built a new ROM for the GT1 boxes with the latest version of firmware from beelink.
If you like to see my work please go to freaktab's website.
All notes about the ROM are posted on the site over at freaktab.

[ROM] NEW Beelink GT1 / FOR BOTH 6255 & 9377 Alvatech V1A
04-12-2017, 17:51
This is a nice clean rom with some tweaks, GUI cleanup, Mods and some changes of the latest original GT1 ROM.
I've always been a fan of Minix boxes so I pulled some components from the ROM and put together my own ROM.

THIS ROM IS FOR TVBOXES WITH 6255 & 9377 WIFI CHIPSETS.

Changes/Mods & Tweaks:
This ROM is based off of the GT1_111M0 firmware for 6255 and 9377.
Removed a lot of the bloatware that Beelink uses.
TWRP Recovery 3.0.2-2 by Abdul
Added Xposed Framework
SuperSu app installed. (Please Update Binary Files - Normal Mode)
Tablet version apps or mobile version apps can be installed from google playstore.
Cleaned up Beelinks kernel from redundant scripts that I don't use in this ROM.
Options to show or hide taskbar and navigation bars separately.
Pressing the Power button from the navigation bar or app brings up new power menu.
Framework from Minix U9-H (Removed, added and tweaked components for it to work with this box.)
Navigation bar and Status Bar Modified, nice and centered icons on navigation bar. Nicer mouse cursor for easy viewing.
Three Launchers: Launcher 3 , Minix Metro & Nova Launcher.
Xplore File Manager, Youtube leanback 1080p.
Alvatech Boot Logo.
Stock Android Boot Animation

Download full ROM:

6255 WiFi chipset (S/N beginning with A912)
GT1_111M0_AT_V1A_6255

9377 WiFi chipset (S/N beginning with S912 or G912)
GT1_111M0_AT_V1A_9377

Known Bugs:
Doesn't include Amlogic's codec brightness fix. For a workaround, play a 4k video for a few seconds.
Waiting for official fix from Amlogic.

Installation Instructions:
Recommend using Amlogic's USB Burning Tool.

1ST BOOT TAKES ABOUT 5 MINUTES, SO PLEASE WAIT AND BE PATIENT.
THIS ROM DELETES ALL YOUR DATA SO DO A BACKUP IF NEEDED! USE THE ROM AT YOUR OWN RISK!

This is to share my work with everyone and to try to make these TV boxes more enjoyable.
I do this only as a side hobby so I will try my best to answer or help with any questions and or concerns as soon as I can.
I have crammed myself with a lot of android knowledge lately and still always learning. So if something doesn't function properly please let me know with as much detail as possible and I will try to fix it. Thanks to superceleron and Magendanz for all the help and inspiration on learning about these android TV boxes.

I'm open to feedback and suggestions to make this ROM better. Please leave comments and suggestions down below. Thank you!!
I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS I DO!!

It is user preference to be honest. I have more of a Minix feel experience with my box. Plus some extra goodies such as xposed already pre-installed. His framework and systemUI is different then mine. Cosmetically right away that you would notice would be:
Mouse cursor, dpi resolution, Navbar, Power Buttons & launchers.  I give magendanz a lot of props for his work he does really good work. I hope others will say the same for mine. We put a lot of hours and days into this type of work for other people to enjoy. :)

Mine is more of a PureNexus philosophy, trying to stay true to Google's design vision and use the bare minimum of OEM or third-party apps or add-ons, which can be added à la carte by the user as needed.  My Nano, Stock and TVStock (Android TV) variants were all updated yesterday with the v111M0 OEM firmware and latest OpenGApps builds.  I also updated to TWRP Recovery 3.1.0-0.

Just give them all a try and see what works for you best.  None of the FreakTab custom ROM developers are getting paid, and we collaborate all the time.  Our feelings won't be hurt if you don't pick ours, and maybe you'll contribute some improvements of your own!

Magendanz said it all. Now you have to make the decision. I too have just updated my ROM to the latest OpenGapps and updated a few other apps that I have in my ROM. I also recently just updated my ROM off of the latest beelink firmware Version V111M0.  We are always happy to help each other out. So give them a try and see which one works best for you.

Not sure what you mean by this rom not playing 4k or unless it was a question because you had a question mark after sentence. But I have had plenty of 4k videos playing on my rom. I even downloaded a few different samples off the internet and they all work some better than others of course. But also some players work better as well with certain files. So for example some files play better in kodi 17, MXPlayer, VLC and built in player from android it just depends of the video files you are trying to play. They all play different. I find MXPlayer and Kodi to be the better players for 4k videos. the 3 sample files I downloaded recently played the same in stock as it did in my ROM.

From what I can tell, both custom roms look great. Just my personal perspective. But the LightHome Launcher is a beautiful launcher. If someone could redevelop it to be useful. Keep the favourites section, but be able to change out the permanent icons. Basically merge the functionality of Top TV Launcher into LightHome Launcher. Just my thoughts. I haven't actually tested either of the aforementioned custom roms, I would like to screen screenshots but the links are broken to see them. Either way, keep up the good work, I will eventually take a test ride.
