I would like to inform about great news:

Dolby Digital [AC3] US Patent Has Expired on February 1, 2017 !
From now on it is totally legally to enable AC3 downmix in any TV box !!!

I too came to know of it from "Cnx-Software" website.
But will the manufacturers will release a new firmware with the feature been enabled by default?

Hope that this will bring back officially the possibility of Dolby Digital AC3 Downmix to players like MX_Player or VLC
