Hi all,

did anyone encoutered the issue with playing videos form local network, like NAS, HDD connected to the router, computers?

When I try to play such videofile, it starts, but aftert about 1GB played the GT1 become completely inresponsive. It is just freezed, the picture is static, and the audio plays just the tone played during freeze. no button works, nothing else possible than disconnect the GT1 form eletricity. I tried to play 2GB videos, 4 GB videos, 900MB videos, 50MB videos, but the result same. So in fact I am able to play just half of 2GB video before it hangs, or several shorter videos but once the total amount of played videos is over 1GB it hangs. I use the GT1 as a media center and it is shame and hard to show any family video to visitors, or family ....

not sure where the problem is. I checked the network througput and it is almos 400Mbit read and 300Mbit write access to the shared hdd from GT1 connected over gigabit ethernet... so I am done... crying that I ever bought this machine :(

...update : the issue is not just related to KODI player, but MX video, inbuilt video player, or any others like ES Filemanager inbuilt player

...I am totally lost where to find the problem :@

I have 1TB HDD connected to TP-Link router and shared through LAN, GT1 is  connected to router with LAN cable. Any files from shared HDDare played without problem (Kodi, VLC,...) regardless of size. Did you tried to connect HDD directly to GT1?

I have a Qnap NAS configured as a UPnP device in Kodi which works fine across a 100Mbps local network...

I also have a QNAP with smb shares. works fine with 100Mbps ...but I encounter problems with 1000Mbps:
When booting Beelink directly with 1000Mbps configured on the dedicated port of my switch, I have no network.
If I force the speed to 100Mbps, then network brings up.
Later I can change the switch port to 1000Mpbs

Hi all ,
thanks for opinions, replies

@King555 : Did you tried to connect HDD directly to GT1? - yes I did, video of any size and quality is playable wihtout problems when HDD or USB drive is connected directly to GT1

I have set advanced setting in Kodi as in standard setting it want play my videos at all and hangs at the start of the video. current advanced setting are the best one which allows me to play at least until +/- 1 GB of videos from shared HDD.

My Router is D-Link DIR880L and 1TB WD Red is attached to its USB3.0 port. Router and GT1 are connected via gigabit ethernet. In theory it must work perfectly, tested speed via WIFI SpeedTest app and the reslut was as I stated before , about 400Mbit read and 300Mbit write - so fine to supply the GT1 with any video regardless of its bitrate.

* now testing the SPMC instead of Kodi - so far played about 2.5 GB videos ( 1080@50p 28MBs form SONY video camera) without issue, tried the same videos with Kodi and GT1 freezes :) , now I am going to try to play my  4K videos 4GB recorded by S7 EDGE and MS Lumia 950 .... so stay tuned :D :D :D :D

Hi all ,

thanks for replies,

I tried to connect my HDD and USB drive directly to GT1 and it plays all the videos without any issue

My configuration is D-Link DIR880L and 1TB WD Red connected to its USB 3.0 port, D-Link and GT1 are connected via gigabit ethernet.
the problematic videos seem to be 4K with 52Mbs bitrate and 1080@60p videos recorded by Samsung S7 EDGE and MS Lumia 950, then 1080@50p 28Mbs videos recorded by SONY HD videocamera.

Now I am trying SPMC instead of Kodi and it looks fine so far played about 2.5GB videos from shared HDD... I am going to try the 4K in a while...

..update: 1080@50/60p playable via SPMC but 4K absolutely not.

the strange thing is that all those videos are playable via KODI on S7 EDGE  without problems or hanging the system....

probably will buy another brand of tv box, to check if it works on it...

so latest testing, digging and seems it works for me finally. I enabled Upnp Digital Media Stream on functionality on my D-link router and added this Upnp DMS to Kodi and it works this way without any issues! Still strange that when I connect GT1 to the shared HDD via SMB , GT1 hangs. When I connect via Upnp DMS it works without any issues....
I didnt want to have enabled both functions on the router ( SMB & DMS), but okay looks like I have no other choice when I would like to play my own videos....
