Kodi isn't the cause of the problem. The dark screen is a issue with the entire experience on these units. Even photos viewing outside of that app.

Here are the issues with this workaround;

1) Netflix app won't play videos anymore after this workaround.

2) The MBOX logo has a really loud noise and it seems to use maximum volume output of the box. With the TV volume usually being above normal, It's deafening and scary for seniors too.

3) Every firmware update the prop file is refreshed and the workaround needing to be applied all over again.

4) Editing system file like prop, causes OTA updates to fail every-time.
