Can you tell me what Codec the original file was encoded in? and what sound codec used. How the steams were muxed.
Kodi and spmc is not going to play any and all files. Yes, this box has it's problems, but as long as you don't tell what type you are trying to play it is hard for anyone to help.

Have you tried to play that file in another software player? Might be a codec issue inside kodi/spmc.

Here is the same file that was played as static and through HLS.
Soccer
It is played fine as static but through HLS it has strobe effect as I described before.
Strobe effect is disappeared when I turn amlogic decoding on - the only working well combination.
This file sample is interlaced video 50 half frames per second.

SPMC is not kodi.
SPMC is build on kodi source code, so you can't ugrade kodi to 16.5.2.

You can install SPMC and run that app instead of KODI.
