Hello there,

Have you had Windows updates on your machine during this time?

This is a Bios error, we see this when booting with Linux, any distribution will show the same error

it show this error, classify it as bug and simply boot but it does look bad.

Also may I suggest you create a section for Windows Key Request, as these request are everywhere!

Thanks!

Hey, I just registered the account to reply. I have SER7 and I can tell you that the ACPI error is blocking the whole system from starting up for sure!
In arch linux 20240601, it even blocked the system installation so that you can't even install arch linux 20240601 on SER7.
ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PCI0.GPP5.RTL8], AE_NOT_FOUND (20230628/dswload2-162)
ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND

Then I tried Kubuntu 24.04, it can only be installed under 'safe graphic' mode, and after installation, I can't enter Kubuntu unless I use the recovery mode.

I'm sure it's a BIOS problem, there's nothing to do with passwords.

Hello there,

Have you had Windows updates on your machine during this time?

Everyone here is talking about Linux, there's nothing to do with Windows.

[    0.237437] ACPI BIOS Error (bug): Could not resolve symbol [\_SB.PCI0.GPP5.RTL8], AE_NOT_FOUND (20230628/dswload2-162)

As for me, I tried to install Linux system on brand-new SER7 got this bios error under the latest Arch Linux system (20240601), and also Kubuntu system (24.04LTS). I guess the same problem would appears on other Linux distribution with the latest kernel.

I think it's a BIOS problem that causes serious problem on Linux System(not Windows).
