copypast reddit, from other ser7 user:
About a month ago I purchased a Beelink SER7 from Amazon with the idea of
using it for Steam games. I already have a Minisforum 5700G that I use that
way, and it has been very much fun, but some of the newer games are a little
too demanding (ie jerky). I have installed several versions of Linux on the
Beelink, all of which seemed to work well except for audio (no sound).
I am currently using Nobara 39 (Fedora based), and it seems around twice as
fast as my old 5700G, but still no sound. I have done a lot of searching on
the net, and found similar complaints with various Linux distribution using
the Realtek ALC897 chip. I have tried the solutions found in some of them,
but they failed to resolve the problem. The audio card seems to be found, and
a driver installed, but still no sound to my Bose Companion 2 Series II
amplified speakers using either the headphone jack on the front, or the line
out jack on the back.
I have checked for muted sound, and tried verified cables. The last step
I can find is to follow your post on installing on Ubuntu. I have not tried
this because it is not my preferred distribution, but can try it if you have
no further suggestions. I feel I am not alone in this frustrating position,
and have found the SER 7 functions very well and meets all my expectations
except for the audio issue.
Any suggestions or ideas you have in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your attention, Same problem on Arch, I tried a lot of things (PulsdeAudio, Pipewire and a lot of kernels and configs), but the audio never wanted to work properly over the jack cable and i have no special error in the logs
