I had Kodi crash problems when scrolling down a list of providers for program/movie (?) ... turned off the amcodec in video->acceleration, and now seems stable. Only one night so far of trying this setup, but no crashes.

If you turn amlogic codec off - you do not have hardware acceleration. Your video will be jerky.
Want a proof?
Here it is: With amlogic Without amlogic
Compare how many frames per second are changed in these videos.
When I record German TV HEVC coded there are sometimes errors in the records. When replaying the record on the GT1 it stops when amlogic hw support is switched off, no such problem when switched on. I can confirm that Kodi (or Qodi in the new FW G1_109MO) is closed when the record is finished and amlogic was switched on.
I can confirm that Qodi closes after showing a video when amlogic hw acceleration is activated. However, when I am looking at a HEVC file with errors recorded from my TV, Qodi stops at the eror position when amlogic is switched off but continues when amlogic is on.
