Thanks, jaivelu!  It's probably easiest to submit bugs or feature requests in the comments on my FreakTab post.  I'll get immediate email notifications on anything you say there.

The real difference between GT1 and Xiaomi Mi Box Android TV is DRM on Android TV.
Is it possible to add DRM Widevine Level 1 to Beelink GT1 ?

This ROM is based on the stock Beelink GT1_110M0 with the Qualcomm QCA9377 wireless chipset, but I've included an updater for the AMPAK AP6255 chipset (S/N beginning with A912) that you can install in TWRP to restore wireless functionality after you've flashed the custom ROM.

As for the DRM features, those require Widevine Level 1 certification...which requires the bootloader to be locked down and makes custom ROMs like ours theoretically impossible.  More info here: http://www.programering.com/a/MDO1EjNwATQ.html

This custom Android TV ROM now comes in a signed updater which can be installed in the Update & Backup app, the stock recovery, or TWRP.  It's recommended for incremental updates, since user data is preserved.  Bootloader, boot partition and system partition are included, but not recovery (just in case something goes wrong).  If you're installing for the first time, I'd still recommend the full Amlogic burn package...or at least doing a factory reset after update, but it's no longer required.

The easiest way is to just install the new updater from TWRP.  Copy the ZIP file to an SD card or USB flash drive, then enter TWRP by typing "reboot recovery" in the Terminal Emulator.  (Alternatively, you can hold the recessed button with a paper clip for about 15 seconds during power up.)  From there, just hit Install, pick the source drive, and select the ZIP file.

Hi Magendanz,

Just wanted to say thank you for your efforts to bring Android TV to the Beelink GT1. I've ordered one yesterday, thinking it would automatically be compatible with the Android Leanback Launcher. I was surprised after ordering it I could not find any reference to Android TV, until I came across this thread!

Can't wait to try it out once the Beelink arrives. Many thanks - please keep up the continued development of this ROM!
