Hi,

Basically giving you the feedback on Armbian_Mainline Kernel after two days of use. Your guide on how to install the Armbian image was so much easier to follow and I was able to successfully to install the Armbian Mainline build. But unfortunately, as you said, still not stable.

Will try the Khadas VIM3 mainline build next. Thank you.

Just an update, burn Armbian_focal_5.9.0-rc6 same issues wifi very slow, Ethernet works good but have the same unstable issue will freeze. Using meson-g12b-gtking-pro.dtb.

Installed Khadas_VIM3_Debian-server-buster_Linux-5.9-rc2_arm64_SD-USB_V0.9.3-200907 successful boot up and able to perform "Update & Upgrade" via Ethernet when I tried (twice) to install Xfce DE (apt install task-xfce-desktop) less than half way through the Xfce installation, Kernel Panic first time CPU 4 interrupted and second time CPU 2 interrupted.

Wasn't able to test whether wifi connection as was unable to install Desktop Environment. Not sure how to do it in Command Line Instructions.

Wondered whether you get past further in Khadas_VIM3_5.9-rc2 by being able to install a DE from the server image.

I m not using it just tried and it ended with kernel panic I shared the photo of kernel panic messages on my previous message below.

Hi,
I also tried VIM3_GNOME_FOCAL_5.7-rc7 both with meson-g12b-gtking.dtb and meson-gtking-pro.dtb. Both dtb can boot up to user and pwd level. After entering the password it will just show a black screen.

Downloaded the Armbian_20.09_Arm-64_focal_current_5.8.10_desktop.img.xz and used the same instructions per your suggestions, it boot up successfully and wifi connection working suprisingly where in kernel 5.9.0-rc6 wifi was painfully slow. Kernel 5.8.10 do freezes randomly, the longest up time with Armbian Kernel 5.8.10 is around 30 minutes thus far then it freezes (supposed is kernel panic issue, usually Htop will show Cpu Freq: 1.99 GHz 1.99GHz. No idea whether the actual Cpu Freq is at 1.99GHz as my revision A GT King Pro is spec at 1.7GHz and 1.8GHz unless the OS has Cpu Turbo On by default.

Yes, point taken.

In the mainline kernels so far I notice, the freeze or so called kernel panic usually happen during writing to disk example updating system, installing apps or copying files from SD to USB drive.

Looking forward to your new builds.

Yes, understood.  So far the most stable Linux image for GT King Pro is your Ubuntu 20.04 and Debian Buster build that I have tried.  I also tried Khadas VIM3 Ubuntu focal linux kernel 4.9.224. V0.9 server version and installed Xubuntu Desktop.

Somehow I could not upgrade to V0.9.3 20200814 version by following Khadas suggestion on how to update and apt full-upgrade to V0.9.3 20200814.  I

khadas@Khadas:~$ sudo apt update
khadas@Khadas:~$ sudo apt full-upgrade
khadas@Khadas:~$ sudo do-fenix-full-upgrade
khadas@Khadas:~$ sync
khadas@Khadas:~$ sudo reboot

It return an Error on fenix cannot locate fenix kernel ... forgot the exact phrase.  Any suggestion on how to upgrade to later Kernel 4.9 V0.9.3 20200814 version.

Also tried Armbian Bullseye 5.9.0-rc7.  Still experience freezing but 5.9.0-rc7 wifi works for GT King Pro just that it doesn't seem stable yet for GT King Pro.

Per Armbian Supported Boards team the Armbian for Odroid N2 5.8.y version is mature and stable so I tried burn the image but could get it to boot as I not sure how to change the "boot.ini" to boot up using "meson-g12b-gtking-pro.dtb".  The boot sequence is different from the generic Armbian for TV Boxes.

It is still same I tried it.
