Had my SER6 PRO for a week. Only used for browsing, Word and Cubase (Music Production) which will test it the most. At no time has the fan kicked in.

Was using Word yesterday, put it to sleep, woke it up this morning, and the fan kicked in. Have restarted, and it's still running constantly. Temp idling at 60 deg (approx) on zero load, which seems a bit odd. Vents are unobstructed, room isn't hot (in the UK). The only other thing of note is that I installed an SSD in the recess, which I realise may restrict airflow around the fan - but on idling, it should make no difference, and even Cubase shouldn't challenge a machine built for gaming.

Does anyone know what sort of temp should I expect to trigger the fan? And what's the upper temp limit before there's thermal damage?

Cheers.

Hello there
The fan in the groove is specifically designed to cool your 2.5-inch hard drive, so after you add a new 2.5-inch hard drive, it is normal for the temperature to rise or hear the sound of the fan. The machine can accept a maximum temperature of 85 degrees Celsius
