GK55 and Windows 11

Will there be a BIOS update released that enables TPM and secure boot in the GK55 for Windows 11?

I should add that, while I know the J4125 supports firmware based TPM (fTPM), as do nearly all recent Intel CPUs, I don't know if the system as a whole does, hence the question.

Gabe, you are correct. I missed that. Maybe we got lucky? You should wait after the flash.bat is run and let your system reboot on its own. I've attached the file for the instructions that they sent. It's not very clear and starts with step 2.

Yes, the new BIOS version enables TPM2.0 as well as optimizing fan speed, you can upgrade your windows 11 system after updating your BIOS.

I received an e-mail from customer support with a link to the new BIOS. I updated the BIOS and installed Windows, but sound still didn't work. I went back into the BIOS and changed a sound setting (There's a lot that I don't know what they do) and now sound works.

Customer support was great, Windows 11 works without issues, and everything's good so far!

For sound, I changed "Audio DSP Compliance Mode" to "UAA" under HD Audio settings.

Right, but the BIOS has to have an option for TPM. If TPM can't be enabled via the BIOS, the system won't be compatible with Windows 11.

As it stands now, there is no BIOS option to enable TPM.

Well, since I wasn't getting reply from Beelink here I sent an email. Judging by the reply I got the GK55 won't end up supporting Windows 11 after all.

Oh well. At least Windows 10 is supported until Oct 2025, so I'll be able to get another four years out of it with Windows. Maybe then I'll try a Linux distro.

I've tried Linux distros over the years.  The good news is GREAT but the bad news is LETHAL

GOOD NEWS is that this GK55 will fly like Superman heading for a restroom.  And if you try Zorin you'll feel like you got what Windows 11 should have been in the first place.

BADS NEWS is that I find Ubuntu based distros are all unstable.  No matter what year.  No matter if it's normal Ubuntu, Mate, KDE, Elementary OS or Zorin.  (I'm not saying non-Ubuntus are stable but that I've only successfully booted Ubuntu derivatives.)  Windows is SO much more stable despite all the whining that's out there.

I've never had a problem with Linux. I have Linux Mint on a separate HDD in my desktop and Ubuntu on a USB flash drive with provisioning. I've just never had it on a mini PC, unless Raspberry Pis are counted.

Back to BIOS update.  You said, "the GK55 won't end up supporting Windows 11 after all."  But what exactly does that mean --

a.  There is no way to fix the Bios and system to support Windows 11
b.  Beelink does not wish to invest additional funds in updating the BIOS

I ask because, sure, at Beelink's prices I can understand if they don't want to eat into their slim profits.  However, I wonder how much it would really cost to upgrade the BIOS via a GoFundMe.

I wonder if the BIOS needed to support 11 is a 'brand' BIOS which is costly and why they avoided it in the first place?

Well now this is interesting. On Beelink's GK55 page it says "Support the installation of the Windows 11 system!" and "(BIOS update required)", yet there's no BIOS listed on the Support page for the GK55.

So, I was able to install Windows 11 bypassing the TPM 2.0 check (There's plenty of information on this on the web).

Everything worked fine, EXCEPT the audio driver. I was having a very difficult time looking for the driver. Tried using Beelink's W10 drivers, Intel drivers, etc. In the end, I had to roll back to Windows 10, since I am using GK55 as a media player using HDMI connection.

I bought my GK55 on A**z** and was looking through some of the questions posted by other buyers and user Starguy stated "Updated review. Solid product. Worked with Beelink support to get updated Bios to enable TPM, a requirement for Windows 11. Support was very responsive." (10/18/2021).

I contacted Beelink support just now asking for GK55 BIOS Update and W11 driver for the audio. Hopefully support is as good as Starguy says it is!
