Hi. I have this model since released in UK 2 months ago.
So glad to see a firmware upgrade, as certain apps have been crashing and closing.
And 1/2 apps won`t even open after they have been updated.
Will all the apps i have currently installed be wiped after this firmware upgrade ?
Any info on what this upgrade does for the GT1-A ?
It`s a wonderful product with the ATV experience, and having the netflix full HD capability is a big bonus for me. Rick & Morty never looked so crisp :P
If you upgrade the system firmware through OTA, you will retain the user data, directly to the machine through the img file flash, you will lose all the data, please pay attention to backup.
Thats great news that it can be done OTA. Saves me a trip to internet cafe as i run linux on my home computer. Is it just security updates ? Does the dolby vision setting work ?....just asking as looking into buying a good 4K tv to use with this wonderful little box. So great with the new 8bitdo PS classic receiver....can use ps4 v2 controller then for emulators on box. Means i can just use the box`s bluetooth for speakers/headphones :)
Hi. I attempted the OTA wireless update today at work, with the box connected 4g router at workplace. There was no update.....do i need to try it at broadband connection at home instead ? Is it better to do update with lan cable ?

Can we have more information about fixes/features related to this new firmware (mainly google cast support and switch for root/unroot modes) ?
I am also interested in md5 checksum in order to verify firmware integrity. I have downloaded firmware but I prefer to verify the downloaded file before to flash. I don't want to brick this box which is working very well except some features.

Yes, you can flash it on the GT1 Ultimate, but it is not recommended because it may fail the flash, cause damage to the machine, and the Flash ATV system will not be able to play Netflix 4K because there are changes in the hardware.
