So here is my temp fix to watch anything in kodi with a brighter setting.  First Go into system .... settings....video.... acceleration and uncheck amcodec and mediacodec (surface).  Then go into any movie and on the bottom right below the bar that shows you where you are time wise in the move there is the Movie real icon next to audio settings, it's video settings.  Pick the icon and Go down to brightness and change to like 57 percent and scroll down some more in the pop up menu and pick set as default for all media.  And bam all movies will be set to that brightness.

It's a beautiful thing.....

Ok so do tell how to I modify this file, seems like it's a read only directory.  I did copy/paste the file into download and was apple to change the setting, but when I tried to copy/paste back into the system folder it said NO.  This is all in ES file explorer, then I stupid changed the rights in system and unchecked all and bam bricked it.  I did fix the TV box but still can't modify the file.  thanks.

Thanks installed SuperSU and es file explorer with root explorer ticked in the settings.  So I don't know which one did it but it saved the change now time to see if it looks good.

No need to replace the bootvide. Just skip to step 4 will do

4. In the file
\ System \ build.prop
Modify
service.bootvideo = 1
