Hardware decode glitch and artifacts

I just bought my Mxiii ii and played a whole bunch of videos (mostly h.264/MPEG4) and there is so much glitch and artifacts making them unwatchable. All of them pretty much. When I turn if HW decode and use SW decode, they play fine.
Do I have a defective product? These are regular TV dramas so I don't think they are hi10p. Is there a fix for this?

I would appreciate any help!

used spmc 16.5.4

I tried SPMC and the same thing happens. I need to manually turn off HW decoders on the options to watch the video clips properly without artifacts. This actually happens with all the video players, even MX player and the stock Movie Player on this device. Does HW decoder not work on this device? YouTube is the only thing that plays fine without glitches..

This is not normal...I yet have to find a clip that play with artefacts...Kodi or MX player - they use the same HW decoder

Turns out it was a defective product. Ordered another one and it works fine out of the box.
