Problems installing Libre Office

Hi guys,


Has anybody else had trouble installing Libre Office ?

When I run the installer I get two errors:   2503 and 2502

I see this happened to another user who had to do a clean Windows install:

I don't really want to wipe my whole PC..   has anybody managed to fix this more easily ?

Any help appreciated !

Thanks NeoGeo (and others who gave similar advice)

I didn't want to do it,  but the windows re-install worked and libreoffice is now installed.

I lost my passwords (including to this forum hence the new account) but otherwise everything seems good.

Appreciate the support

This is a common issue, there are folder permission incorrectly set. I assume that you tried to install LibreOffice on a beelink mini PC that was delivered with the factory pre-installed Windows 11 Pro system.

You can solve this issue by re-installing the Windows 11 Pro system using the reset Windows 11 function. Search for reset this pc and use this function to get a fresh Windows 11 Pro installation done.

Could you please send us a picture of  SN code at the bottom of machine ?


Here are some methods to fix this without doing a clean Windows install:
1. Run the installer as an administrator
Right - click on the LibreOffice installer executable file.
Select "Run as administrator". This gives the installer the necessary permissions to access system folders and make the required changes during installation.
2. Check the temp folder permissions
Errors 2503 and 2502 can sometimes be caused by incorrect permissions on the Windows temp folder.
Locate the Temp folder. In Windows, it is usually located at C:\Users\ [your username]\AppData\Local\Temp.
Right - click on the Temp folder, select "Properties".
In the "Security" tab, make sure that the user account you are using has full control. If not, click "Edit" and adjust the permissions accordingly.
3. Disable antivirus and anti - malware software (temporarily)
Sometimes, security software can interfere with the installation process and cause these types of errors.
Temporarily disable your antivirus and anti - malware programs. Make sure to re - enable them once the installation is complete.
4. Repair Windows Installer service
Press the Windows key + R to open the "Run" dialog box.
Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
In the Services window, locate "Windows Installer".
Right - click on it and select "Stop".
Then, open the command prompt as an administrator (right - click on the Start button and select "Command Prompt (Admin)").
Type "msiexec /unregister" and press Enter.
Then type "msiexec /regserver" and press Enter.
Go back to the Services window, right - click on "Windows Installer" again, and select "Start".
After trying these steps, attempt to run the LibreOffice installer again.

Try running the LibreOffice installer as an administrator and check if Windows Installer permissions are correctly set to avoid errors 2503 and 2502.

Hello there,
you can try to reset the PC,Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see of Windows will boot . . .

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Repair
See if Windows startup can repair itself

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore
Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

If you do not have a Restore Point, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart
Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode
Once in Safe Mode, backup your data if you do not already have a backup
Open Device Manager and check to make sure all your Drivers are up to date
Reboot to see if Windows will start Normally

If the above fails, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC
Choose to keep your files and apps, just your files or to keep nothing
Then start the Reset

Apologies for the radio silence.

I have tried all of the actions suggested above except for wiping Windows and doing a fresh install.

Which I will now attempt..   wish me luck and patience  :)
