no audio in new ser5 computer

i've a new ser5 with linux mint.

when the speakers connected with the audio jack there is no sound whatsoever.

is this computer faulty?

Did you check if the sound card is installed? Some chips don't have support in Linux, maybe you only have the AMD HDMI audio installed.
