Did anyone get any kind of Linux working on the BT3?

I'm running Fedora 24 64bit on my Z83 with BIOS v16 64bit. It boots fine. I've been able also to boot Ubuntu. These features don't work:
- Wifi (the SDIO device is not found by the OS)
- SD card reader. It always gives
[408273.573908] mmc1: card never left busy state
[408273.574127] mmc1: error -110 whilst initialising SD card
- No HDMI sound (this issue affects all the Atom x5/x7 but a kernel patch exists)
- it runs a bit hot

I tried Debian 32bit with the 32bit BIOS, it works. Upgrading to the 64bit BIOS you can get the latest Ubuntu Mate to install which is quite nice.

However in both cases neither wifi nor Bluetooth work. WiFi most probably will never be supported by Linux because Beelink fitted a Broadcom wifi chip. Broadcom does not provide documentation or drivers for their chipsets, and thus the Linux community totally snub this manufacturer in the hope that they will either change their stupid policy, or rather manufacturers will stop fitting their SoC / Chipsets when they realize they cannot sell their products with Broadcom chipsets.

The bottom line is that this BT3 is a pretty much closed box, that runs only Windows 10 and not even very well.

I would stay away from it, far too expensive for what it is (or rather what it says it is, but it isn't).

Hello,
With my BT3, I succesfully get the debian installation menu with my default BIOS (0.12)... but I didn't install anything yet.
Indeed, before a permanent installation, I would like to test drivers with a "live" distrib (but multi-arch debian is not a live CD).

Here are notes I take during my test:
1) Download the debian 8.5.0 multi-arch: http://cdimage.debian.org/debian ... 64-i386-netinst.iso
2) Install it on your USB key using usual tools (linux=dd; windows=Rufus USB installer or equivalent)
3) Reset to "default options" in the BT3 UEFI setup (Press F7 to get the startup menu).
4) Restart the BT3 to access again the startup menu and select the USB key in the menu.

I suppose most of other distrib/OS cannot start because their ISO doesn't contain the expected UEFI startup configuration.
Now, I need to confirm that :)

Hello all,

After quite a bit of struggle I gained some progress, but have not yet fully succeeded

The 64 bit BIOS update did enable 64 bit bootloading off a USB key.
Using the ISO to USB tool "Rufus", I needed an UEFI compatible partition layout on the USB key. It seem the BIOS cannot do old style stuff.

Unfortunately my CentOS 6.8 install media kernel failed to detect the on-board disk controller, so I'm not quite done yet.
Does anyone happen to have driver details?
lsmod or dmesg output?

An old thread, but I installed Debian Buster on my Beelink last night, and I am answering this thread using that combo.
1) The installer fails to install Grub2 unless the system is connected to the network. But then it can get what it needs and it installs smoothly.
2) No luck with the WiFi yet, but the adaptor is detected and the brcmfmac driver attempts to drive it. So I think this is now a config issue only.

The show wasnt bad, but they didnt get any big-draw guest stars, and it was a terminal case of "one of these things is not like the others" on UPN.
