3.5mm AV out?

When Droid Settings | Audio is set to all and file audio is set to pass-through, what (if anything) is output from the 3.5mm AV?

Hi, 3.5mm AV port can output analog audio and video

If I select "All" in the audio output section, then play video with multi channel (5.1) audio pass-through (I use SPDIF to my AV receiver), it appears that nothing is output from the 3.5mm AV port. I thought it might downmix (2 channel stereo) a second stream.
