This week the Xiaomi Mi Box released in the U.S., and the user interface is considerably better than the standard AMLogic Mbox 6.0 reference build. Both the Android TV Launcher (a.k.a. Leanback Launcher) and Out-of-Box Experience are on par with the Nexus Player and nVidia Shield, which has reset expectations for a $69 TV box. Also, it has Chromecast support.
My question: Has anyone at Beelink or AMLogic looked at porting this work to the S912 reference hardware?
We should see significant performance benefits on S912 vs. S905X, plus the AMLogic reference board has an Ethernet jack and microSDXC slot, which the Xiaomi Mi Box lacks. With a little work, this should be possible, but my attempts to install the latest Android TV Launcher (v.1.1.7.3300609 dated Sept. 29, 2016) on my Beelink GT1 via APK Mirror were fruitless, resulting in an immediate crash.
Anyone had better luck?
