Hello! New to the forums and trying to figure out the best course of setting up my new GT1 boxes arriving tomorrow.
I'm taking delivery of two GT1 (original but 32GB) boxes tomorrow and am seeing a lot of horror stories since ordering them around WiFi issues and dark video playback.  My impression of Android 7 so far is that it's not stable enough to want it on an Android box so I'll probably avoid upgrading the OS and just do firmware.

Are the firmware updates over the air or so I have to manually do them? What's the difference in what I see on this forum and the OTA updated app?

Do the firmware updates fix the Wifi problems and also dark screen issues on Android 6.0?

I believe it is missing a list of "known bugs" these firmware are very obscure regarding errors. Errors should track posted links to be displayed and not "hidden".

Regarding WiFi issues, that has been basically rectified a few firmware back for the Android 6 line. The dark screen remains in Android 6, you can apply the bootvideo tweak to correct this. With Android 7 release, the issue is no more, no need for the bootvideo tweak now.

Android 7 is working exceptionally well, except I still think the refresh rate seems low when coming from the settings menu back onto the home screen. It screen shouldn't go white even for a moment, so I'm believing it's a refresh rate issue.

Beelink Android 7.1.2 firmware still has no bar(S), but that's in progress. It'll be making it's way to the public soon.. I think. :)

You should be-able to-do it via Android Settings / Device / Display / ' Brightness level '

Excellent, thanks for the detailed response! Glad to hear that 7.1.1 is working well as I just returned two low-end budget boxes that had it on there and were riddled with issues and was tempted to keep 6.0 for the time being.

Sounds like Beelink have been working hard on the firmware and OS updates so I'll update the boxes when I get them today (out for delivery, can't wait!) and give them a spin. For the price it's hard to argue given the level of support provided compared to other generic box manufacturers :)

It's a decent box for the price, and there's some support here and through email. Beelink technical support continues to improve. However, ignorant ones just bought their first Beelink experiences issues or mere problems comes on here and comparing other products to Beelink and faulting technical support.

I've seen lot of different Android TV media boxes, and I don't remember a single product having product support board. There many boxes don't even offer email technical support and the ones that do, do not stay up very long.

Anyways the Brightness level support is part of the Android OS, not a feature introduced by Beelink. And this support existed in Marshmallow and I older Androids.

Feel free to poster other questions or concerns. :victory:
