Root for v6.0.1 available or not?

Good day to you all,
                              I purchased one of these boxes for my childrens room as slightly cheaper, i own a S912 octacore.
I states on sales ad that it is indeed the S905x
I like the small shape to it and overall design, feels solid and looks good.
I read about that these are rooted via ota updates.
I plugged in box to see that is no root or Supersu in apps.
So i did firmware updates via ethernet and all downloaded and installed no issues, running on v6.0.1, but still no root icon showing.
Can you clarify that there is ineed a root method for this box?

I have just realised before i came here i believe it is rooted as i use root explorer and adaway and these need root access and both are working.
Strange as in all my years, the SU icon will always appear and grant access given notice given on apps that require root.
Why is it, that su icon does not show as this is first time ever i have experienced this.
