[SER7] VirtualBox can't boot any Linux distro

I tried VirtualBox in Windows and Linux hosts, but VirtualBox always ends up in kernel panic if I try to boot any Linux distro. If I try to boot Windows though it works perfectly.

If I plug my USB stick system on my Intel desktop I can boot any Linux distro via VirtualBox.


Since I couldn't find any results when trying to google this AMD 7840HS CPU having issues in VirtualBox, I'm assuming there's something missing in SER7 BIOS.

I'm using BIOS v30, originally shipped with my SER7.

Hi, this is not the Beelink problem :)
you need to execute this command:
C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox>VBoxManage.exe setextradata YOUR_VM_NAME VBoxInternal/CPUM/HostCPUID/80000006/edx 0x02009140

and you can run your linux VM :)

This is the solution
spent a couple hours on this - not fun but glad it worked out.

FTR I couldn't run the code exactly as that
I had to move the entire Oracle folder (found in program files) to my C drive (I got error messages about the program files folder)
Then open Command Prompt in admin
Run the code like so:
C:\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxManage.exe setextradata YOUR_VM_NAME VBoxInternal/CPUM/HostCPUID/80000006/edx 0x02009140
I had to do this for each VM
After I did copy and paste of the oracle folder back to it's location in program files (this might not be needed though)

This worked for me and my VMs are working perfectly now - better than ever thanks to the speedy chip.

I'm glad to hear that :)
but i'm should wrote on the beggining:  "c:\path_to_\VBoxManager.exe"
This problem is touched new AMD processors :)
