SER5 5560U HDD Max Size

The description for the SER5 5560U indicates a max size for the extra HDD to be 2TB. Why this limitation?

Drives 2TB and smaller tend to be 7mm
Drives larger than 2TB tend to be 15mm

My guess this is a depth issue. I don't think there is enough space for a 15mm drive.

I have seen this question posted several times and have never seen Beelink respond. There's no size limit if you convert the second drive to GPT (Normally). So, there should be nothing preventing you from using a drive over 2TB. You can always test it out if you have a drive handy. It will either work or it wont.

Thanks - I didn't think there would be a restriction. I would have just tried it (as you noted) but I don't happen to have a drive available, so I'm going to have to purchase one. I guess I'll bite the bullet and buy one. I'll report back here once I've officially tried it.

I'm looking at adding a 2tb ssd drive as well to my new SER5 (working well so far) and am new to ssds. Can anybody tell me exactly what style and physical size of drive I need, and if I need a cable or ribbon to it attach it?

Correct ... my 3tb hard disk won't fit in the little casing they provide.

you need a SATA 2.5" SSD drive. It will slide right into the frame they provide and mate with the connector in your picture directly. Just be sure to get a couple of screws in to hold it securely in place.

I also just discovered the 2 tb limit is an artifact of the MBR partitioning scheme used on these drives.

It's nice to see I have been teaching you something. I remember IBM Releasing 10MB Hard drives in the early 80's when I began installing IBM PC-XT computers in offices. The price of the Hard Drive was nearly $1000. They were the first Hard Drives to use a Master Boot Record. It's not a relic as you mentioned above - it's still used on every Hard Drive sold in a computer.

This is a small forum, we are going to keep answering the same questions. I can tell you know little about computers because you often repeat what I say - as if it was your original thought. That is annoying.
