Running multiple apps, periodically I lose the picture and then a minute later I'll get an AMD bug report screen. I have tried the Windows driver from March, 2022 and then 2 AMD drivers including the latest 22.8.2 dated 8/19/2022.

The last time it happened I pulled up Task Manager and saw the GPU temp was 97C!!! But the cooling fan was just barely audible!

The device is using Beelinks latest public BIOS 1.24 dated 6/8/2022.

I think the default cooling fan curve needs adjusting because the fan was not running very hard when the graphics reset.

My ambient room temp is only 22C and the GTR is sitting under the monitor and has no airflow impediments or blocks. It's only 2 weeks old and is still in pristine condition.

Can a tech recommend better FAN settings for me?

    Thanks!

    *** Solution Found ***

    Changed BIOS setting:

AMD CBS >> NBIO Common Options >> GFX Configuration >> iGPU Configuration

    from Auto to UMA_Game_Optimized

Effect: This causes the device to abandon the measly 512kB of hardware VRAM and instead pre-allocates 4GB of Upper Memory as dedicated VRAM. The video is now smooth and uninterrupted!

Editorial: This device has literally hundreds of BIOS options. Beelink should reference and publish the engineer's notes regarding all these settings. I should send them an invoice for my time to figure this out on my own.

GTR5 5900HX... What about using AMD Adrenaline software?  This is what I did and all is working smoothly since.

Yes, I have that installed and it's not doing anything for the temperatures.

The dangerous high GPU temperature zone starts at >90c.
If you're overclocking, you're definitely running your GPU with more power and, as a result, more heat... it's definitely raising your temperatures and can even have a long-term impact on your hardware if it's constantly in this "danger zone".
If you're not overclocking, ~97c sounds alarming!

I fixed the fan settings by implementing a better manual fan curve in the BIOS, however the video driver keeps resetting and sometimes will not give me a picture again until I power cycle the device. It happens mostly when I load an old DX9 game called Everquest in a multi-session mode. Everquest will basically run on a toaster so it's not too much for this level of hardware, but the device seems to choke on it. Can support give me some options? A better BIOS perhaps?

DxDiag returns which version of Dx?  (probably Dx12) but do you get error(s) on some page(s)?!?
Not sure but when you installed Everquest, did the software installed Dx 9.0c and would now mix and interfere with Dx12... something like it...
I doubt AMI would come up with a new BIOS that would address old games' video lagging. :-)
Have you tested running the game on a VirtualBox machine using old WinXP/Win7 to play Everquest?!?

    Not  ...

DirectX is backwards compatible. After installing the game a person downloads and installs the last DX9c update. Many thousands of people still play the game on Win10 or newer machines. I myself have 4 other Win10 machines at home playing it without any issues.

The reason I was specifically looking at the 5900's BIOS is the fact it's a shared memory machine. Perhaps there's a timing issue with the handoff between dedicated VRAM and shared system RAM? When Everquest is running it consumes all 512KB of VRAM and about 1GB of shared RAM. The box allows for up to 16GB of shared so I'm barely denting it's pool of available memory.

The current BIOS gives access to way too many RAM timing settings but surprisingly enough you can't select a simple XMP profile. I'd like to experiment by slowing the RAM down 1 tiny step but the current BIOS requires you to be a RAM expert to do so.

Thanks though for giving me ideas on things to try!
