I wouldn't even ask this if it were not such a diferent form factor!
Would it be possiible to just pull the M.2 out and save the win 11 OS for later and install a new drive for Linux?
I have never had any luck using a recovery discs.

Why do you want to do that instead of leaving the mini pc alone with windows 11 and that's it? The less you touch this mini pc the better.

I agree with "Arcan". You could backup (disk image) actual Windows 11 then install Linux. You may also simply download the WIndows 11 Pro and Install procedure from the Beelink Support page, create a bootable USB drive and then go ahead and install Linux. If you are a Linux user who loves the Fingerprint Biometric login... be aware no Linux driver are available (fully working) today.

Thanks for the response although the thought that removing the M.2 storage chip could damage something is concerning.
I think the (disk image) might be the answer. Thanks again.

Sure! You can create a disk image of your Windows 11 Pro, then same for Linux...
I thought you were looking to purchase a new M.2 2280 drive. I have the GTR5 5900HX model. It came with an Intel 500GB M2 2280... I replaced this drive with a 2TB M.2 2280 for Windows 11 Pro and I kept the Intel 500GB for Linux which I'm using on/off.  You may also want to dual boot Windows/Linux and even install WSL 2.x under Win11 to run Linux etc...   so many possibilities. Take care!
