Hello, I have a U59 originally equipped with 8GB of ram at 2666MHz.
It was really little, so I bought 2x8GB of Crucial Ballisttix BL2K8G32C16S4B 3200MHz ram, Intel XMP technology ready.
I knew the motherboard wouldn't run this news at 3200Mhz, but I wanted it to run at the max of 2933MHz.
If like me you want the ram of your U59 to run at the maximum speed of the motherboard (2933MHz) here is how to do it:
Enter Bios Setup
go to Chipset -> System Agent (SA) Configuration
-> Memory Configuration
Look Memory speed (2667MHz)
enter in Memory
search for Memory Profile and change Defaut to XMP Profile 1 (Profile 2 don't work)
Save and exit and re-enter Bios Setup
go to Chipset -> System Agent (SA) Configuration
-> Memory Configuration
Look Memory speed (2933MHz)
In Windows 10
I have not tested this parameter change with the original ram. I don't know if this ram is compatible with Intel XMP. You can test and if the U59 does not boot normally, do a Clear CMOS on the front panel and reboot.
I bought G. skill RAM f4-3200C22D-16GRS (2x8) but I get screen black. Even if I reset CMOS I get black screen. I thought even if this ram has speed 3200 it will be adjusted to allowed max 2400. Any idea or comment will be appriciated.
Thanks.
