Update 912P0 comes with an expected change.

I've set audio output to spdif for my old Sony STR DB 1080 receiver. I've installed update 912P0 wol, and noticed the following. When my receiver is off, I can no longer hear the audio from my tv speakers. This always worked fine in previous versions of the firmware.

This means:
1. I always have to put my receiver on. I don't prefer to do that.
2. Or I need to change the audio settings from spdif to hdmi, when I only want to hear the sound from my tv. And again from hdmi to spdif when I enable my receiver.

Can this be fixed please?

yeah well..i dont like that.

I undestand...
maybe beelink can bring an option to have hdmi+spdif sound as an option in addition to hdmi only and spdif only. This will be easier for users to select and decide...

Same issue here. After update, sound is not playing from hdmi and optical at the same time, you ahve to choose. But this way, passthrough option is gone from kodi or other video players. Like Mark says above, you have to select each time audio source, this completely destroys user experience. One main reason i chose this box, was the ability to passtrough 5.1 through optical and this is now gone without providing a good reason for it. Please fix this!

Your question can be understood as that when you plug in the SPDIF plug, your sound device will become spdif output instead of hdmi, but you want to be hdmi. At the same time, on the contrary, if you choose hdmi, you will not be able to get the sound of spdif, you need to choose spdif by yourself

In the previous version, did both HDMI and spdif output sound at the same time?

Your question is not only need to choose HDMI and SPDIF sound options, but after the update, 5.1 audio is also lost, right?

Yes, before update, sound was coming from both HDMI/SPDIF, so if i wanted to play sound on my 5.1 receiver, i was just turning it on. Kodi had "passthrough" option as well. Now it's gone

@Beelink, thanks for your kind reply. I'll try explain it more accurate.

My TV is connected with an HDMI cable. My receiver is connected with an optical SPDIF cable. I need to enable SPDIF in the Droid sound settings, because my receiver has only SPDIF inputs.

The past 3 years, on different Android boxes and before the update, I didn't have to turn on my receiver 24/7. I could always hear the sound from my built in tv speakers (HDMI) when SPDIF was enabled in the Droid settings.

When I a turned on my receiver, I could hear the sound from my TV (hdmi) AND the sound from my receiver (spdif). So HDMI and SPDIF always worked perfectly in the past at the same time.

This has changed in the last update P0912_wol. When SPDIF is enabled, there is no more sound from my TV.  Too make a long story short.

Before update:
Droid Settings: SPDIF enabled
Sound from TV (hdmi): YES
Sound from receiver (spdif) YES

After update:
Droid Settings: SPDIF enabled
Sound from TV (hdmi) NO
Sound from receiver (spdif) YES

I think I have to be sorry for my suggestion of the audio.

For me, it works well because I AM ALWAYS on "earphones mode". Im very private with my things so neighbours can't hear.
AND I dont have anymore the BIG mute button my tv showed when it was muted.

Instead of turning on mute, you can lower sound to 0. No mute icon this way.
