Micro SD card works in my box S912 Firmware 105 & 104.

Format micro SD card to  FAT32.
Update box OTA to 104.

If i remember from new the micro SD card did not work in GT1.

When you first plug in the USB drive, before you launch Kodi, do you get a screen showing USB drive connected and giving you an option to Browse / Set up as internal storage / Eject?

Another way to check is to go to Settings --> Storage and your USB drive should be listed there.

If you can see it in Android but not in Kodi then something must be wrong with your Kodi install.

I just tried with Kodi 17.0-BETA3 and on SPMC and both work fine.

There are so many other variables. I did not have any issues with FAT and NTFS formatted USB sticks or external HDD drives. I think yours are not partitioned properly. You should really use firmware 106, it is a lot better.
