Hello, I have a question about how the SPDIF perform on this box:

I have an old homecinema without hdmi and for a months I have played with a Rpi and a hifiberry digit + (with the spdif out) and some weeks ago the hat died so no more 5.1 sound. that is sad.

I wonder if this box can replace this set-up and for that I would like to know how the spdif work with 1080p files +/- 10Gb and DTS 5.1 or Dolby digital 2.
Is is ok?

Thanks for the answer.

Did you try  developer options->use legacy dhcp client. ?

I read that as a possible fix too.

With the factory firmware, SPDIF works properly only for 2 channel PCM sound.  Passthrough of DD and DTS works, but has short dropouts every few seconds making it almost unusable.

There's a custom firmware discussed on this forum which transforms the GT1.  Using this, DTS and Dolby Digital passthrough is flawless, at least up to 5.1 (that's what my receiver is).  I use it to play 10Gb+ 1080p .mkv files from a NAS via Ethernet without any issues.

Sorry for my previous answer above, it belongs in a different topic. No idea how it ended up here, I suspect some moderation error.

I was wondering! :D

But it reminded me of the fix for somebody else so it proved to be very useful!
