I need help with my GTi14, the pcie is not working, i have a dead brick

Beelink CS-George The device is switching on and its working, but i having issues with the PCIe slot.

I have already bough some PCIe (Gen 5) x8 and x6 to single NVMe adapters so i can an additional storage, But all of them did not work.

The last one i tired was this one:

Do i need to make a BIOS enable or change?

I don’t want to buy the EX Dock Pro just to try it out and just to add a extra storage

The machine is useless if the PCIe slot will work only with EX Dock Pro

The adapter you linked, and I’m afraid it will not work with Beelink Gti14.

Non‑standard power delivery – The PCIe slot on the Gti14 is physically x8 but its pinout and power rails are optimised for the EX Dock Pro (graphics dock). Standard adapters don’t get the required 3.3V supply for an M.2 SSD, so the drive never powers on.

BIOS device whitelist – Beelink’s firmware only recognises specific PCIe Vendor/Device IDs. A generic passive adapter lacks that “signature”, so the motherboard skips it during POST – it won’t even show up in the system.

Signal timing mismatch – PCIe 5.0 is very sensitive to clock and reset timing. The Gti14’s slot is timed for a GPU, not for an NVMe drive. Even if power were available, the link training would likely fail.

What you should do instead:

Use the built‑in M.2 slots – Your Gti14 has an addittional standard M.2 2280 slot on the motherboard. Just buy a regular NVMe SSD and install it there – that’s the officially supported way to add storage.

I have a few follow-up questions, as I’m trying to better understand the limitations of the GTi14 PCIe interface.

The first point regarding the power delivery makes sense. If the connector does not provide the standard 3.3V rail required by an M.2 NVMe SSD, then a passive PCIe-to-NVMe adapter would indeed not work.

However, I’m a little confused by the other two points.

Regarding the BIOS whitelist, a passive PCIe-to-NVMe adapter does not have its own PCIe Vendor/Device ID. The PCIe device presented to the system is the NVMe controller on the SSD itself. Is the GTi14 firmware intentionally limited to recognising only specific classes of PCIe devices (such as the EX Dock/GPU), or was this meant in a different sense?

Likewise, for the signal timing, PCIe devices normally negotiate the highest mutually supported link speed during link training. Is there something unique about the GTi14 implementation that prevents non-GPU PCIe devices from establishing a link?

I also wanted to ask whether the PCIe connector is intended exclusively for the EX Dock, or whether there are other PCIe adapters or expansion cards that are officially supported. For example, is there any adapter that would allow me to add a single NVMe SSD, or is the connector effectively limited to use with the EX Dock only?

Ultimately, I’m trying to understand whether the external PCIe connector is:

A proprietary interface intended exclusively for the EX Dock Pro.
A standard PCIe interface with some electrical limitations (such as missing power rails).
Or a standard PCIe interface that supports other expansion devices, provided the correct adapter is used.

If it is proprietary, would Beelink ever consider publishing the connector pinout or electrical specification? There are quite a few enthusiasts who would be interested in designing custom expansion boards for storage, networking, AI accelerators, or other PCIe devices.

Clarification on BIOS whitelist and signal timing
There is no traditional BIOS whitelist restriction
Your understanding is correct. A passive PCIe-to-NVMe adapter does not have its own independent Vendor/Device ID. The system will identify the ID of the NVMe SSD controller itself. Our firmware does not block devices by brand or hardware category via a whitelist.
The real reason your adapter fails to be detected is insufficient power supply: the bottom PCIe connector only provides +12V power for dedicated graphics cards, and it does not carry the mandatory 3.3V power rail required by M.2 NVMe drives. The SSD can never finish power-on reset, so it will not be enumerated by the system. This symptom looks identical to a whitelist block, but the root cause is totally different.
PCIe signal timing follows universal standards, it is not locked exclusively for GPUs
PCIe link training is a unified industry-wide negotiation mechanism. Any device compliant with PCIe specifications can negotiate the highest mutually supported transfer speed.
EX Dock Pro can run at full Gen5 speed because it integrates built-in PCIe 5.0 retimer chips to compensate signal loss over long cables. A passive Gen4 adapter could theoretically complete normal link training, provided the missing 3.3V power supply issue is resolved. The timing is not designed to exclude non-GPU devices.
Definition of the bottom PCIe port
This port is a proprietary physical PCIe interface with electrical power limitations:
Its physical form is a custom Beelink buckle design; standard PCIe edge cards cannot be installed physically.
Electrically, it complies with PCIe Gen5 ×4 + Gen4 ×4 standards, but the connector does not output the 3.3V rail required for NVMe SSDs, and it is only designed to power the EX Dock Pro graphics dock.
Officially, we only support pairing it with EX Dock Pro for GPU expansion. There are no officially certified third-party PCIe/NVMe adapters that can add storage via this port. Modifying the hardware with flying wires or custom BIOS modifications carries a high risk of permanent hardware damage, which we do not recommend.
About public pinout specifications and community expansion
At present, we will not release the full pinout definition or complete electrical specifications of this port to the public, as this is proprietary original design of our products.
If third-party manufacturers intend to develop expansion boards, storage/network/AI accelerator hardware based on this port, they need to contact us via official business cooperation channels for further discussion.
Official viable solutions to add a 3rd NVMe SSD
You have already occupied both onboard M.2 2280 slots on your GTi14 Ultra. If you want to add extra NVMe storage, we recommend two stable official methods:
Use a USB4 / Thunderbolt 4 NVMe external enclosure for high-speed storage expansion, which does not rely on the bottom PCIe port at all.
Expand storage via EX Dock Pro or EX Mate Studio docking station.
Compatibility note for EX Mate Studio
EX Mate Studio is compatible with GTi14 Ultra, but it uses a different interface standard from EX Dock Pro:
EX Mate Studio adopts a USB4 Type-C transmission solution, and it cannot be directly plugged into the dedicated bottom PCIe slot of the mini PC. You need to purchase an additional certified Thunderbolt 4 cable and connect it to the full-function USB4 Type-C port on the chassis. It cannot use the bottom PCIe expansion slot.
In contrast, EX Dock Pro is the only docking station that can directly plug into the dedicated bottom PCIe port of GTi14 Ultra, with native Gen5 high-speed bandwidth without extra cables.

I have just two final questions:

Since I only need to add additional NVMe storage (and not a GPU), has Beelink ever considered offering a more affordable NVMe-only expansion dock instead of the EX Dock Pro? I think there may be users like myself who would love an official storage expansion solution without the added cost and features of GPU support.
Would you recommend the EX Mate Studio as an option for my use case? I primarily run Ubuntu Server on my GTi14 Ultra, so I wanted to ask if the EX Mate Studio works well under Linux/Ubuntu, or if there are any known compatibility limitations I should be aware of.

Currently, Beelink does not have plans to release an NVMe-only expansion dock specifically for the GTi14 Ultra’s proprietary PCIe interface.

However, we do offer an excellent storage expansion solution in the form of the EX Mate Pro docking station. This product is designed specifically for users like you who want to add significant NVMe storage without the cost of GPU support.

Storage Capacity: It features four M.2 PCIe Gen4 slots, supporting up to a massive 32TB of total storage.

Connection Interface: It connects via a standard USB4 v2 port with 80 Gbps bandwidth, not the GTi14’s dedicated PCIe slot. This means it’s a general-purpose expansion dock that will work with many devices, but it doesn’t utilize the 128 Gbps PCIe of the GTi14’s proprietary interface.
