Hi @darkstar,
Somehow, foreign language character set is not being displayed properly/correctly.  Search the web for ideas but wasn't able to find a solution.
Exampe forum.bee-link.com web page.  The chinese character set is display improperly example of screen shots from Chromium and Firefox.  Other languages on different web pages are also displayed square box or square sets.  Any suggestion how to rectify this?  I have installed "ibus" but made no difference.
The foreign character sets not displayed properly can effect the browser not responsive when a new tab with foreign language is open.

chromium is not in ubuntu impish repo and it is available with snap.
the version that you are installed is a third party or beta or compiled for different distribution etc.

there must be unmet font dependencies or compatibility libraries.
Do not expect it to run without problems.

Thanks. Wasn't sure whether I am the only one facing this issue on Ubuntu-Impish with kernel-5.15.1-darkstar.

Installed ibus but to no effect.
Edit: Hi @darkstar,

Could it be fonts not installed?  Is they a regular set of fonts that is supposed to be installed on Ubuntu where it can display the popular foreign character set like chinese, korean, thai, etc?

Edit2:  The foreign text/characters that are not displayed correctly on "forum.khadas.com" and "forum.bee-link.com" if not mistaken is either "chinese" or "korean" characters.

The fonts installed on the Ubuntu-Impish are:

Not sure whether any of the above fonts support chinese, japanese and korean characters.  Did web search and "fonts-noto-cjk" supports chinese, japanese and korean character sets.

Installed "fonts-noto-cjk".  Lets see whether this resolved the foreign chinese characters display issue.

Now the foreign chinese text is displayed properly!

Hi @darkstar,

Issue resolved by installing "fonts-noto-cjk" as chnese, japanese and korean fonts are missing.  The interesting part is that it affected the Chromium performance on web pages with any of the three language is involved.  On Firefox just these text are displayed as square with hex but on chromium loading of new tap with these text will be very slow and at time rendering it non=responsive.

Thanks.

Just found out that ppa:kisak/kisak-mesa now have arm64 mesa fresh support.  Latest stable mesa-21.3.1 is available.  Installed on Ubuntu-Impish and it works.  glmark2-es2-wayland is about the same as Ubunut Repo mesa-21.2.2-1ubuntu1 but glmark2-es2-wayland --off-screen score with mesa-21.3.1 is much higher 1128 vs 692 Ubunut Repo mesa-21.2.2-1ubuntu1.
