I find the variable speed of the small fan in the SEI models to be distracting.  Are there recommended BIOS settings that correspond to a "Quiet Mode" like you'd find from most mainstream OEMs?  I'm perfectly willing to some sacrifice performance or CPU longevity to achieve a better acoustic profile, but this whiny fan noise has got to go.

Hy,

I've found a solution to limit the boost in the bios. Be careful with bios modification.

Go to "Advances"=> Power and Performance
CPU - Power Management Control
CPU Lock Configuration
Overclocking Lock si enable, make it disable

After that, go back and select view/configure turbo option
There 2 lignes where you can override limite frequency, i have lock to 2.5 Ghz and it's make less noise.
