I would like to run my U55 from an external 12volt battery for Astrophotoraphy. But these battereys can vary from 12v  to 13.8 v depending on charge state. Most equipment desinged for 12volts works at a minimum of 12v with a range to 15v. Does anyone know of a safe range i.e. 12 -13.8
Thanks

I use an U55 to control my telescope/camera too.  I read a previous post by the seller that a regulated 12v is required and cautioned against damage with higher voltages.  See https://www.amazon.com/ask/quest ... ef=ask_ql_ql_al_hza

A buck converter would allow to to set an output to 12v regardless of the input (within the buck's range). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XM8SM66  Works for me, but your mileage may vary....
