hello

it is possible to change the fan speed from bios or app?

if no, what kind of wire is used, is it a 2 or 3 or 4 wires?

is it possible to reduce the speed by reducing the power delivered to the fan with third party controller?

i want to reduce it by 25% to 50%

thanks!

Hi,Currently, the fan speed cannot be adjusted. Are you experiencing any problems?

on the page of the product, it say silent fan, the fan is spinning at 4200-4300 rpm, it's not really silent.

the mini pc is behind the monitor, attached to the vesa mount around 3 feet away and i can hear it.

dropping the rpm to 2500-3000rpm would be better i think.

since it is not possible to change the speed. is it possible to put a third party fan controller (actual external hardware, not software) to reduce the voltage sent to the fan to reduce the speed?

something like that:

i opened the box, looked at the cable the fan have.

it is a 4 cable, pwm fan!! and the motherboard is using the ITE IT8772E chip.

i found an application (shareware) that can control it (argus monitor), i need to find a free app

fan is now running at 2000 rpm and it is now silent! and the cpu temperature with my usage stay below 50c which is great!

if you could add support in the bios with a fan curve it would be fantastic

Be careful.  I had Speedfan set up perfectly on this unit for months.  I couldn't get Speedfan to automatically come on and so each time I boot I have to turn it on.

Last night I started streaming a movie.  Despite a very air conditioned room the unit SPIKED for the first time.  It went up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and then turned itself off.  (Yikes!)

A moment later I smelled a little smoke.  Yes.  I It was VERY hot to the touch.  I took a moment to reboot and leave the Speedfan off.  I also took a small portable fan and aimed it at the unit.  Luckily in no time it was back to 45-55 F.

Again:  be careful

I am suffering from the fan noise too.
But my gk55 is running a linux OS (debian), not windows, so Speedfan does not work for me.
Do you know any software that can tune the fan speed under linux OS?
