Using a SSD as boot drive

Hi there. I've just bought a SII. I've installed a 2.5" SSD and cloned the system from the 64GB eMMC drive. However I can't get the system to boot from the SSD, even when I select the SSD as the boot drive in BIOS. Windows does not give me the option of selecting the SSD version of Windows as the startup option. How can configure the SII to boot from the SSD?

I would try a clean install, I am no sure ir you have created the necessary system partitions ny clonning. I guess you have the n4100 version, I own the n5000 version wit h no emmc

I would think that since n4100 offers option to add SSD, that Beelink support would offer customers helpful info on how to do exactly this. seta666 is probably right, best way is to do clean install, but then that means you need to go buy another copy of Win10, where if you could clone the dive over you wouldn't.

Thanks chaps. After a few days with no replies here, I did email Beelinkservice and I did get a prompt and helpful reply (thank you Beelink). They also recommended a clean install and sent me access details for the system files. I did follow their instructions, but sadly I still could not get the SII to boot from anything other than the eMMC drive. The options to boot from USB stick and SSD were there in BIOS, but wouldn't work. So I gave up :( I still don't know if it's possible. If anyone is looking to upgrade a SII 4100 (eMMC only) with an SSD, beware!

Cool Two, thanks for the update, though still disappointed. Just took delivery on one of these today, to be a new PC for my 91 yo Mum (and yes she can still get around online pretty good). In her case, I won't need to add an SSD, but still, having that option but not being able to take advantage of it is a drag.

Mine was also a deployment for an elderly mother Chris. The eMMC should be fast enough, but it would have been nicer to boot from the SSD. Just in case not clear, installing a 2.5" SSD was easy and quick, but I was unable to discover how to configure it as the Windows boot drive. That aside, the SII seems a great little machine.

I'm currently struggling with trying to get Windows 10 updates installed. Going on two days now, it seems that MS tries to push too many at once. The big updates (1709, 1803, 1809) load to 91% then stop, numerous restarts and checking needed services (all running correctly). All because MS decided that users shouldn't be able to manually install updates as they wish...:L

I was finally able to complete Win 10 1809 update by using the Media Creation tool, took about 4 hours to complete, but it worked. Yay!

You are changing your BIOS boot setting right? If not changing them will resolve your issue.
