Hello,
I installed SSD to SATA connector on X55 but the read speed is terrible. Speed starts decent, but after 2 seconds drops to low 20's! Write speeds, for some reason, are good. I would think this problem would be vice versa but it is not. I have tested this with different test files multiple times.

Same SSD (WD Green 240 GB) with USB3 to SATA adapter is writing and reading as it should.

What settings are needed in BIOS/Windows in order to get this SSD to read as fast as it should? Tested the SATA connector also with regular 2.5" HDD and it runned normally. I already changed HDD to SSD from BIOS but it didn't help with read speeds. Before I did that change, the SSD was failing with formatting and was causing complete freezing when I tested the speeds with CrystalMark and WD's own testing program.

Power mode is set to High Performance by the way.

EDIT: Forgot to mention: Running Win 10 Home with version 1803 (Build 17134.345)

Any help would be highly appreciated!
EDIT 2: Here is the CrystalMark info. Please explain those zeros with read speed??

SATA:

Speed with USB to SATA adapter:

SpeedWithUSBtoSata.PNG

EDIT3: Went and bought Samsung 860 EVO and same problem. Used Samsung Magician as well. Then I checked the CRC error count:
CRC_errorCount.PNG

Is the cable damaged or is there some setting in BIOS that I need to enable???
EDIT4: Updated BIOS from 0.08 to 0.14 - Problem is still on!!

...and why in h..l the C drive (mSATA drive) is set in BIOS as HDD on default and not SSD which is option as well???

-Fin

hi
1. Samsung's SSD needs to download the appropriate driver to speed up the hard drive.
2. The test data is impossible to zero, otherwise, the hard disk will not start.
3. Gemini X does not have a setting to set the BIOS speed.
4. Regarding the CrystalDiskInfo test, first of all, if it is an SSD, it is usually a false alarm. The "Ultra DMA CRC Error Count" (C7) does not have a very specific explanation. Generally speaking, this is a damage to the hard disk interface. The normal hard disk is normal. If you insert and remove multiple times, you will have this yellow alarm, but don't worry, please check the SATA interface of the motherboard and the SATA interface of the hard disk for obvious wear or burn marks. If there is no such indication, the hard disk can be safely used, and several versions are replaced. When the HD-TUNE software is tested, it will be found that some HD-TUNEs have yellow alarms, and some do not.
5. The extended 2.5-inch hard disk is read as HDD by default. This is just a name issue and has no impact on performance.
best regards

Copy the Code

I've updated the BIOS, forced libata to disable the NCQ commands, changed power settings in the BIOS and nothing works. I've checked the SATA cable (it looks very weak and badly wrapped in scotch tape) and it looks the connections are good. Also the EVO 860 firmware is up to date.

Also with the BIOS update it seems that the output power goes from 6W to 10W, more than enough for 2 SSDs one of them m.sata.

I don't know what to think ... but i'll be grateful if somebody can shed some light on this.

Regards!, Le

I don't think there is a fix for this and I think Beelink knows this too...
