I'll receive my Beelink SII Mini PC DDR4 4GB ROM 64GB HDD Expansion with Intel Gemini Lake Celeron N4100 Intel HD Graphics 600 Dual HDMI 2.0 4K Output 1000Mbps/LAN Dual WiFi from Amazon today.

What linux distro would you recommend I install. this box will be for dev (python, web scraping with local MongoDB storage,  Selenium webdriver for Firefox and Chrome, Docker, using the box, particularly  PyCharm from VNC).

I've googled some stuff and hesitate between Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Linux Mint 19 Tara (Cinnamon, Mate or Xfce) or Debian with LXDE desktop).

I'll go for a distro which make all easier with the SII...

WiFi and audio don't matter much to me.

I've done it! VEry very happy!

Linux Mint

1) download XFCE 64bit ISO
2) burn USB drive with Unetbootin
3) hit Suppr on boot and choose USB boot
4) choose OEM install in Mint boot
...proceed (add external software will add VLC, Gimp etc.)
5) enjoy (fast, eth 1G, hdmi, audio thru jack, I see bluetooth icon and wireless networks)

Hi there!

I can't boot on USB drive!

I tried with Ubuntu ISO and netinst drives made with Rufus or  Unetbootin, none works.

I change boot option to USB drive in setup (set at first), I had either a Windows boot or a black screen with a fixed underscore at top-left.

I'm lost and stuck... What should I do ?

I bought this box for linux!

Hi Marie

I am newbie and just bought the Beelink S2. What is the purpose on installing the Linux Distro? It will work as android? So call double OS selection? Appreciate your explanation. Thanks.

Hello,  I hope this will be of interest.
I have the n5000 version of the S2, and have successfully run both Manjaro Gnome and Mint on the device. The performance is excellent.
Manjaro version = manjaro-gnome-17.1.12-stable-x86_64
Mint = linuxmint-19-xfce-64bit-v2

Marie, how did you go from "it doesn't boot from USB" to "it works!"??? I cannot boot from USB. The USB stick is recognized by name in BIOS but selecting it in the boot menu does nothing. I am stuck at the menu unless I select the SSD with Windows on it. Several others have reported unable to boot from USB stick and we have a thread for it, but nobody has contributed a solution.
