Yes, I have already added a Samsung 860 EVO 500GB drive to my X55. It installed quickly and easily. If you buy the 860 EVO, or any other Samsung SATA SSD, remember to download the Samsung Magician software (version 5.2 as of the date of this note) and the Magician Software Installation Guide (a .pdf). This will help you set up the overprovisioning area of the drive and prepare the SSD for fastest use.
Getting used to the little peculiarities of the X55 right now. Also Windows 10's oddities.
